Although there has been considerable research on gender integration in the SANDF, there has been very little research on the factors that influence recruitment and particularly, the recruitment of women in the SANDF. The aim of this research was to fill this void in order to establish the factors that influence the propensity of women to enlist in the SANDF and how they view their employment in the military.
The research project centred on the 2017 intake of new recruits to the SANDF as part of the Military Skills Development System (MSDS),incorporating SA Army, SAAF, SA Navy and SAMHS.
