Initially proposed by India's Minister of Defence to help expand the India-ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) defence cooperation, the Indian Armed Forces will conduct two initiatives to train women personnel in South East Asia.
About the India-ASEAN initiative for women
One of the initiatives under the initiative include the conduct of tailor-made courses for women peacekeepers of ASEAN member-states at the Centre for United Nations Peacekeeping (CUNPK) in India. In all 20 member states of UN peacekeepers, two from each country would be trained.
The other is a ‘tabletop exercise’ for women officers from ASEAN, incorporating facets of CUNPK challenges to be conducted in December.
